April 29, 2017 By Valerie Mcclintick Leave a Comment

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and we’ve got some fun new teaching resources for your Sunday School Lessons.  Mother’s Day is a fantastic time to teach young children that God calls us to honor and respect our Moms.  We’ve designed two different Scripture Verse Charts and corresponding Bible Coloring Pages you can use to present these ideas:

Both of these new Mother’s Day Bible Verse Cards can be printed from our sister site: ChristianPreschoolPrintables

St. Patrick’s Day Bible Coloring

February 17, 2015 By Valerie Mcclintick Leave a Comment

StPatrickColoring

Instead of focusing on greedy leprechauns, St. Patrick’s Day is a great opportunity to teach children about the Trinity.  St. Patrick himself used the three leaves of a shamrock to explain the concept of Trinity by explaining that there was God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, all part of the same God.

Today I’ve made a simple coloring page or craft you can use with your students.  This is a printable shamrock with the three parts of the trinity written on the front.  There is a small song sung to the tune of Frere Jacques that children can cut out and glue on the back.  You can turn this into a classroom art project by printing on cardstock, cutting out the shamrocks and providing children with green and gold glitter to decorate their shamrocks.

Australia Crafts: Cave Drawings

CaveDrawingPinThis is a fantastic project to follow up learning about all the amazing and beautiful cave drawings found in Australia.  I love crafts that showcase children’s original work and this is a great way to add a little flair to your classroom walls!

Materials:

  • Butcher Paper
  • Pastels or Chalk
  • Examples of Cave Drawings

Suggest Resources for a Unit Study:

aus5    aus6  australia  australiapeople

Art Project Tutorial:

Step 1

First of course you'll want to show your children examples of Aboriginal art work.

Step 2

Unroll a large sheet of butcher paper and tape it to your table. (Or better yet, outside to the sidewalk!)

Step 3

Provide children with colored chalk or pastels. We used the charcoal and crayons above but it was SUPER powdery and messy so be warned :)

Step 4

Illustrate some figures and shapes for children to copy. Encourage them to try to find symbols and other ways to represent people, animals or objects.

Step 5

Let children experiment with the qualities of the chalk, and make drawings representing what they've seen.

Step 6

Show children ways to outline and add dimension to their drawings

Step 7

When your cave drawing is complete, hang it up in your classroom for the duration of your unit study. (Hair Spray keeps the chalk from dusting)

God Keeps His Promises Game

November 2, 2014 By Valerie Mcclintick Leave a Comment

GodFaithfulChildren learning about Noah’s Ark can learn an important truth that God always keeps his promises.

We have a variety of Noah’s Ark printables, crafts and resources you can add to your Sunday School Lesson, but today I wanted to add in a center time activity.

This is a game that can be placed in your learning centers or morning activity table for children just arriving or played in your own home with sibilings.

Each child receives a gameboard that reads “God keeps his promises” and has a space for each color of the rainbow.

Children take turns drawing colors from the middle hoping to be the first one to fill up their rainbow board.

If a child draws a color they already have, it’s simply discarded and the next child takes a turn.

There is even a place for children to place their favorite color.

Stained Glass Coloring Pages

March 25, 2013 By Valerie Mcclintick Leave a Comment

This week I picked up a set of Stained Glass Coloring Pages from the bookstore.

Everyday last week, after the children finished their schoolwork I let them choose a few stained glass coloring pages.

They were a HUGE hit.

Addictive even.

They have since filled up the classroom window with their creations.

This was such a great project for them,
(and me)

They stayed busy for HOURS.
All of them….even the baby and the tot loved coloring them.
Grandma even got in on the action.

It was perfect for the rainy days we’ve had this week.

Gotta love it!

There are so many different sets of Stained Glass Coloring Pages,
you can bet that we’ll be picking them up for birthdays and Christmas presents!
