Christmas Tree Craft

December 21, 2020 By Crafty Team Leave a Comment

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how lovely are they branches! Christmas is such a wonderful time to get the kids excited. We’ve got a wonderful DIY Christmas Tree Craft idea your kids will love. Our Christmas Tree Art Project is creative, easy to make, and a gorgeous keepsake for loved ones. You could even shrink down the size of the template to fit a Christmas Card to send to friends and family. This is a fantastic project for multiple ages and abilities and a fun way to get family and friends together around the holiday table. However you create, you’ll want to display your child’s Christmas Tree artwork year after year.

While there are a ton of fun Christmas Tree Crafts out there, this holiday craft is unique and special. With just a few materials, your child will have a beautiful and colorful Christmas tree in just a few minutes. Best of all, every tree turns into a unique masterpiece that children are excited to share.

Christmas Tree Craft Materials

  • Christmas Tree Template
  • Bleeding Tissue Paper (different than normal tissue paper)
  • Clear Elmers Glue
  • White Cardstock

Holiday Tree Craft Instructions

  1. Print our free Christmas Tree Craft Template on cardstock paper. We’ll be getting the paper wet, so you’ll want a thicker paper if possible. Turn over the template so that you are creating on the back side.

2. Use water to wet the paper a bit, then add the bleeding tissue paper circles in an overlapping fashion. You’ll want to think about your color choices so that you have colors blending into different hues, or even complementary colors to help the project pop. You can see in the photo above that warm colors were used on the area of the star, and then it transitions into cooler colors for the tree.

3. Add water over the top of the circles to ensure they are bleeding the colors onto the paper. However, be careful not to add too much water or you’ll get a “muted” look as the colors will be washed out a bit. Just enough water to transfer. You can play around with this to see on a scrap paper.

4. Once you have the outline filled with tissue paper, set the project aside to dry. You can use a blowdryer set to “low” to speed things up if you are short on time.

5. When dry, shake or peel off the tissue paper. You’ll see that once the tissue paper is removed, the color still remains. Flip your project back over so you can see the Christmas tree outline.

6. Cut on the black lines so that your tree is in 6 different pieces.

7. Choose a piece of construction paper with a dark color as your background. Begin laying out each element of the Christmas Tree in respective order, beginning with the star. Leave space in between each set of branches so that the background can show through.

8. Glue all pieces in sequential order as shown above.

9. Your Crafty Classroom Christmas Tree Craft is complete!

Frame your project to ensure it lasts year after year! What a fun Christmas decoration to pull out each winter. Scale this project down a bit to create a set of unique Christmas cards from the kiddos. Simply set your printer to print multiple pages per sheet and you’ll have a template just right for holiday cards. Your kiddos can create four at a time!

Christmas Cards From the Kids!

December 21, 2019 By Valerie Mcclintick 1 Comment

Finding Christmas Cards that your kids can make can be difficult. Today, we’ve created a set of holiday cards that will help your little ones add a personalized touch this Christmas. This set includes Christmas Cards, as well as Thank You cards each with a holiday theme. Each card prints on a single sheet of paper and can be folded into shape.

Free Printable Thank You Cards

When children are younger, it can be hard to find ways for them to write their own Thank You cards. For reluctant writers, even the thought of filling in the blank page can be daunting. We’ve created a free printable Thank You Card Word Bank that will provide your kiddos with a list of common words they might use when writing a thank you card.

Thank You Cards From Kids

Each card can be folded into shape by following the guidelines. Inside each card, you’ll find that there are helpful writing lines to help your students keep their writing tidy. Students can use the word bank to craft their thank you message.

Thank You Card Word Bank

This printable set includes 8 different cards, some for Christmas cards and some for Thank you cards. There are adorable characters like Santa, Reindeer, Christmas Tress, Penguins, Snowmen, Gingerbread Men, and more!

You might pair this activity up with some Christmas erasers for some extra holiday fun. Your students will LOVE to write their holiday cards with fun Christmas characters as erasers! We purchased a set that includes Christmas Trees, Stockings, Snowmen, Gingerbread Men, and more.

Christmas Coloring Countdown Printable

December 12, 2019 By Valerie Mcclintick 2 Comments

Last Minute Christmas Countdown

Did you forget to do a Pinterest worthy Advent Calendar this year?  Don’t worry, I’m right there with you. I blame Thanksgiving. It was just too close to Christmas this year, wasn’t it?  I mean, I ordered a bunch of tiny treats to put in my wooden advent calendar but I just never got the Christmas Rubbermaid out of the garage in time…and here we are half way through December.

Well, look. Today I have a simple, no-excuses Christmas countdown calendar you can print up for your kiddo.  There are not mini-chocolates or extra things required. Just print it up, make a few cuts, and you’ll have yourself a working countdown calendar that your little one will look forward to for the rest of the month.  And hey…..just tell them they get to color in the first 12 days as a special 12-days of Christmas bonus.

Free Printable Christmas Countdown

Let’s face it….there is just something so FUN about counting down to Christmas Day! Children LOVE to wake up and mark another day off the calendar. You might already have a felt advent calendar, or even a wooden advent calendar, but there is something extra fun and unique about creating your own countdown keepsake.

Simple Christmas Countdown Calendar

I’ve seen quite a few Christmas countdown calendars over the years, and while they are super-cute, sometimes they are just too much work to set up! Especially when Thanksgiving ends up really close to Christmas, there just isn’t enough time to transition from one holiday to the next. Well, this Christmas Countdown Coloring project solves that problem as it couldn’t be simpler.

To set up this countdown calendar, all you need to do is print out the two pages; the cover sheet that includes the numbered windows, and the background sheet that contains the pictures. Use scissors, or an Exacto knife to cut the windows on three sides as shown in the photos, then glue the cover sheet over the sheet with all the pictures.

Each morning, when you child wakes up, have them open another window and color in the Christmas picture! Every day they’ll be greeted with a new festive holiday character to color in. By the time Christmas comes around, you’ll have a special keepsake of their hard work you can keep for years to come! If you have nieces and nephews, or if you are sponsoring a child overseas, this is a lightweight advent calendar you can send along for not very much in postage.

Christmas Coloring Countdown

Print this free countdown to Christmas calendar on cardstock for best results. If you have colored paper for the the numbers that would add some holiday cheer!

Christian Christmas Symbol Printables

November 23, 2016 By Valerie Mcclintick Leave a Comment

christmassymbolsheader

christmassymbolsprintablesChristmas can be overwhelming…..and the true message of Christmas can often get lost in all the “Holiday” festivities.  On our sister site we provide many free printables that teach children about the true meaning of Christmas.  We also have snow and candy cane themes you can use to point children to Christ during the Winter activities.

Today we’ve added a new section on the website that covers Christmas Symbols and their Meanings.  This is a great way to show children that all of the activities that take place during the Christmas holiday are intended to point back to Christ and the sacrifice he made for us.

  • The Tree points to heaven and reminds us that God is eternal.
  • The Wreath is a circle and reminds us that God’s love for us is also eternal.
  • The Candle shines brightly, showing us that Jesus is the light of the World
  • The Bells ring out a celebration to announce the coming King.
  • The Baby in a manger shows the birth of the Jesus, the Lord and Savior of the world.
  • The Candy Cane is shaed like a shepherd’s staff, reminding us that Jesus is our shepherd.
  • The Star was placed in the sky for the wise men to follow.
  • The Holly is sharp like the crown of thorns, the berries are red like the blood he shed.
  • The Cross reminds us of the sacrifice that Jesus made for our sins.
  • The Presents remind us of God’s gift to the world

Christmas Cards Kids Can Make

December 2, 2015 By Valerie Mcclintick Leave a Comment

Ornament1

Children love to make gifts for friends and families at Christmastime.

Today I’ve created a simple art project for kids, that will provide them with stunning prints they can use to make Christmas cards or wrapping paper this year.

Ornament9

Materials:

Printing Plates (or styrafoam tray….ask your butcher for extras)

Paint & Brush  (brayer if you have one)

Round Object to Trace

Paper and Pencil

Ornament10

First, find a round object to trace.  Use your pencil to press into the printing plate (styrafoam) so that your picture shows….don’t press too hard or you’ll go through to the back.

The circle will be your ornament, and the line will be the string.
Ornament8

Decorate your ornament with different designs.

Ornament7

Paint over your design, trying NOT to press large amounts of paint into the grooves of your design.  This is where a brayer comes in handy!

Ornament6

Turn your stamp over and press onto your paper.  Gently press all areas without wiggling it around :)

Ornament5Carefully remove your stamp and you’ll be left with a beautiful inking on your page. Allow the stamp to dry before trying other colors.
Ornament2

The printing plates are beautiful as well.  We always save ours for later use:

Ornament4
Tip: If you’re putting words on your ornament you’ll need to write the letters backwards.  You can write the word you want in marker on a piece of printer paper.  Turn the paper over and you can see through the paper how you should write your letters on your ornament.

Christmas Bible Coloring Pages

ChristmasHeader

Christmas is such an amazing outreach opportunity for Children’s Ministry.

Many new students will be coming to your classrooms this Winter, and I wanted to make a few resources you can use or send home with children next month.

These are simple special reminders to children that God has created them unique, and loves them eternally. The pages are designed for little hands to color in, you might even add a little sparkle with some glitter or glitter gel pens.

There are some great books you can pair with these coloring pages if you want to make a theme in your classroom as well.

SnowflakeColoring

God Made Me Unique Snowflake Coloring Page

SnowflakeBentlySnowflake Bentley From the time he was a small boy in Vermont, Wilson Bentley saw snowflakes as small miracles. And he determined that one day his camera would capture for others the wonder of the tiny crystal. Bentley’s enthusiasm for photographing snowflakes was often misunderstood in his time, but his patience and determination revealed two important truths: no two snowflakes are alike; and each one is startlingly beautiful.

SnowmanColoring

The Spirit of God Snowman Coloring Page

FrostySnowmanFrosty the Snowman is such a beloved tale around Christmas!  Children love the magical story of a snowman come to life for a day and I thought it would be fun to make a Bible Verse coloring page you could use to tie in with this Winter story.

CandyPlacematBoy

Jesus Loves Me Candy Cane Coloring

CandyCaneThe Legend of the Candy Cane is such an amazing resource book around Christmas!  I love books and tangible objects that can point children to God and serve as a reminder of his everlasting love for them.  If you haven’t yet picked up a copy of this popular book, I highly recommend it, there is a Kindle version as well making is simple to add this book to your holiday collection.  J is for Jesus is another sweet holiday story for children that uses the candy cane to represent the gospel message.

Christmas is right around the corner so here are some last minute printables!

Nativity  Christmas Labels.

These labels are so beautiful, and best of allthey each focus on a piece of the Christmas Story.  From Mary’s Good News, to the Visit of the Maji, these labels will enhance your Christmas presents while reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas.

20131221_100136

We printed ours on Avery Shipping Labels (8 1/2 x 11)

(Product ID# 8165)

Then after we cut them out we could easily peel off the backing

And stick them on a gift.

20131221_101205(You could easily print these on regular paper and use a glue stick as well)

20131221_101726

I also made a set without the “to” and “from” to be used as Christmas Tags.  Tie the tags on with a string and write that information on the back.

Blank Nativity Christmas Labels

20131221_101516

I even thought these would make beautiful ornaments if you added glitter to them Like we did with our Christmas Card Craft.

Either way, with these labels you’re sure to encourage people to think about the true meaning of Christmas.
