What’s That Bug? Notebooking Printables

August 22, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 4 Comments

So if you’ve been following us on Facebook this Summer,
you’ve been treated to a plethora of animal and bug photos.

We’ve been visited by many NEW and interesting creatures this Summer,
and most of them we’ve needed help in identifying.

As handy as the internet it, sometimes it’s hard to look up a bug by description.
We use these sites quite often, they are the best we’ve found:

What’s That Bug
What Bird
Animal Track Guide
Printable Animal Track Identification Guide
Another Printable Animal Track Chart

But, we have come to realize that’s it’s much more efficient to simply post the photo to Facebook.
Within a few minutes we have gotten some very interesting and often accurate identifications.

It’s gotten to the point that directly after we catch a new critter,
my son says, “Post that to facebook so we can find out what it is!”
So I must say a BIG Thank you wise Facebook Followers for all your help!

You have made my job as Mommy/Biologist so much easier.

Just to prove I’m thankful, I whipped you all up a few identification printables.

What’s That? Notebooking Printables

There is a sheet for Bugs, Birds, and Animals.
These would be great to have on hand as your children come to you with their backyard discoveries!
I’m a big supporter of impromptu research sessions, and these will help guide young children through the identification process.

It’s Child-led learning at it’s finest.
I’m convinced that this is one of the best, easiest, and longest lasting styles of teaching.
You simply capitalize on their excitement,
and milk it for every educational drop you can get out of it.

So next time your little kiddos come to you with something crazy looking like this:

or this…

or even one of these…

Stop what you’re doing and take them on a learning adventure!
They will love you for it!

The Homeschool Budget

July 29, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 8 Comments

Do you have a homeschool budget?

Do you know what’s going out and what’s coming in?

Yeah.

Me neither.

And between all the Back-to-school supplies, Used-Curriculum sales and crazed Online ordering,
I am at a loss for what I actually spent on our Homeschool this year.

So in an effort to regain my sanity,
and in classic, “I should have done this FIRST” mode,
I have created a simple (and pretty) homeschool budget tracker.

Homeschool Budget Tracker

Nothing fancy.

Just a few places to keep track of what I spent for the year,
to help me plan for the following years.

It may look extra simple,
but over the past few years I’ve found that simple is good.

I even gave myself some simple rules for using this budget sheet.

Dear Self:

Rule #1: Don’t write down each and every individual item. Seriously, you have other things to do. You don’t want to give yourself a case of Budget Burnout like last year.

Rule #2: Don’t even separate things by subject, or child. Just keep your receipt and write down the dollar amount. Go for a general budget idea. Trust me, I know you.

Rule #3: Be proactive, write out a best guess at what you’ll spend beforehand. Come back and see how close to target you were. Give yourself a little incentive……Extra Homeschool dollars can be spent on coffee.

Rule #4 Tell the Truth. You know the difference between homeschool NEEDS and WANTS. You’ve got ZILLIONS of half used pencils. Reuse last years notebooks. Seriously. Get real girl and remember….coffee.

Rule #5: When you’re all done, look up the price of Private Education and pat yourself on the back. Job well done Momma!

What about you?
What Budget methods work for you?

Can History be Engaging?

July 23, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 2 Comments

Warning: Soapbox Post Ahead
The printables and Free Curriculum Offers are at the bottom, scroll if you must.

So, what do you think?

CAN History be engaging?

If you would have asked me that 20 years ago,
I would certainly answer that with a big fat,

NO!

In fact,
I can even go further and tell you the specific night
that I decided that I HATED History.

H.A.T.E.D.
I would use a milder word,
but it really wouldn’t convey my actual (10 year old) feelings about History

(and yes, if you do the math that makes me 30)

Ahem…..

So, it was 20 years ago and
I vividly remember sitting in my uncomfortable wooden chair,
with my gigantic 5th grade (public school) History book propped on it’s spine.
The tendons between my thumb and pointer finger ached from holding
this monster of a book upright.
It was massive.

I was tired.
It was late,
Homework was due,
and I had more pages to read then I cared to count.

I tried my best to read. I willed myself to focus.
Self motivation kicked in; “You can do this!”
With heavy eyelids I read a full page.

Great!
Until I realized,
I hadn’t a CLUE what I just read.

(ever done this?)

Giggling at myself,
I started to read again…..this time outloud.

An hour passed, until I just couldn’t stomach any more.
I had no idea who these “historical” people were.
I had no personal frame of reference for where they were at in the world,
or even what period of time they existed in.
There were dates and numbers and facts,
graphs and arrows and lists of accomplishments.
I had no connection to any of it.

My brain was jumbled.

That was the moment I realized my complete hate disregard towards History.
(yes, I was a moody young girl and my feelings quickly swept from hatred to apathy)

I closed my book,
went to bed and
took an incomplete on my lesson the next morning.
No Joke.
Big fat ZERO.

And, now that I’ve written that all out,
It is almost sad to remember how much
I actually loathed History lessons.

I know better now.
I’ve actually become quite fond of History over the past few years,
Mostly from reading His-Story from an entirely different perspective,
but also out of a necessity to teach it to my own children.

I want my children to actually connect with the people and stories they read about.

This is one reason we will be using many living books
from our Heritage History Curriculum.

PSSST…..
If you are making a purchase at Heritage History use
coupon code: valerie7
It will give you the Spanish Empire Library FREE
with any Curriculum CD purchase! Ends 10/31/12Click Here for more details

So mostly I’ll be assigning these living books during independent reading time,
but for some of the titles I’ll be following up the reading time with
actual assignments. It is for those times that I made a set of Notebooking pages:

notebooking living books

And of course I couldn’t wait to share them with you too!
If you use living books or any kind of chapter book as part of your weekly lessons,
you’re going to love this 5 day spread of self-guided notebooking assignments.

You can read all about each daily assignment and print the free notebooking pages here.

TIP: Print up an extra set and keep them in a folder
for one of those “mom is sick, everyone pick a book” moments.

Happy Notebooking!

How to Bind your Notebooks…

July 17, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 5 Comments

This week I made a big purchase.

There has been something on my homeschool “wishlist” for quite some time.

I’ve spent the last year rationalizing away the cost.

Quietly planning all the different projects that I would use it for.

Promising myself that I would get my monies worth.

Do you know what it is yet?

It’s a binding machine!

It does things to my e-books that a stapler NEVER could.

(Oh sweet notebooking heaven)

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get one!

So wondering how it works?

Here’s the deal:

Step 1: Print up your e-book.

Make sure to use cardstock for a cover page, and a back page.
(note: you can get special coverpages at the store if you want)

Step 2: Load your weapon:

This means you put your curly binding comb between the prongs,
pull the special lever to open it

Step 3: Poke all your holes:

For my machine that means entering the paper like so

And pulling down the big handle.

Crunch.

All the papers are stored in a drawer inside the machine. No mess.
(note: my particular machine can handle up to 10 sheets at a time)

Step 4: Start assembling your book.
Slide your freshly punched papers onto the open prongs of your binding comb.
(the black curly thing you opened in step 2)

Step 5: Continue until you have all the pages you want included.

Step 6: Release side lever and the binding comb closes back up.

Step 7: Enjoy your fancy looking notebook!

If your interested here is the machine that I purchased.
It’s called Fellowes Star Manual Comb Binding Machine
I also picked up some different sized combs:

Fellowes Plastic Comb Bindings
Note: Combs come in different capacity…
Some do up to 55 pages, some up to 150 pages.
You want to get a variety, but I use the 55page and 90pages the most!

Pssst: Like my garden notebook?
STAY TUNED!!

Notebooking Printables

June 6, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 5 Comments

Looking back on the different Homeschool techniques we used
over the past year, there is one method that really stood out:

Notebooking.

As my children have grown we have slowly progressed from Lapbooking to Notebooking
and a somewhat middle ground of LapNoting or NoteLapping.
(Them are progressive homeschool words right there folks)

Anyway.

The Notebooking Fairy -- printables and how-tos with a pinch of pixie dust

Ever since Jimmie came out with her Notebooking Success eBook
I am a stalker follower of her blog The Notebooking Fairy.
(In fact, she has a hilarious post up right now that made me giggle all the way through)

Besides being super funny, she has some AMAZING tips for
successfully implementing notebooking techniques with your child.
I love, love, love the simplicity of her tips.
Be sure to check her out!

So, back over here at our house,
the binders are staking up, and I’ve found myself
making more and more notebooking-type printables.

So I decided to just go ahead and make it official with a page dedicated
to all of our Notebooking Printables.

notebooking printables

Now it looks all official doesn’t it?

Currently we have:

History Notebooking Printables
Writing Notebook Printables
Dinosaur Report Printables

And I just added a small set of

blank notebooking printables

Blank Notebooking Printables.

I made these to go alongside our History Notebooking sheets,
but I suppose you could use them for whatever you like!

So there you have it.

We are officially Notebookers.

What about you? Do you notebook?

Math Master Printable Chart

May 31, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 5 Comments

Just popping in with an easy Summer School FREEBIE for you!

My children recently finished up State testing,
and while they each passed (phew)
one of the things I noticed was the lack of SPEED
with which they attacked the math portion of the test.

And can I just say for a moment that:
It’s wonderful to be allowed to WATCH your children take a test!

btw-That is NOT my kid taking a test.
That is a picture of a kid taking a test that I found on the internet.
I certainly would not hound my children with a poloroid moment mid-test.

But there is really something to be learned about (unobtrusively) watching
the way your child processes and manages everything you’ve (hopefully) drilled
into their little brain.

So I was excited for such an opportunity, and as I saw focus and progress,
and clicking of next pages I was reassured in my ability to actually teach at home.
It was great.

HOWEVER.

When the Math portion of the test came around…
I was a tad disappointed to see lots of finger counting and (gasp) calculator clicking
(which apparently they allow for some reason now? Was it always like this?)
Ack! I was cringing. It was a classic pride before the fall double whammy.

Doubts crept in.
Didn’t they already learn this?
I know I taught them this.
I thought we had it covered?
Must we go back again?

So this Summer we will AGAIN be reviewing Math facts.

I found THIS GREAT WEBSITE for printing up some drill sheets.

And I whipped up this Math Master Printable Chart.
(There is no better motivation then positive/intrinsic I say!)

We’ll be attacking this DAILY, with the goal of increasing ACCURACY & SPEED
and WE WILL PREVAIL!

And TELL me I’m not the only one here!

What have you taught your children over and over and over and….

(you know…..besides not to Hit their brothers)

Love Bible Verses for Children

February 6, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 19 Comments

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to share God’s love with children!
We’ve got some fantastic Preschool resources for you to use this year,
and now we’ve got a few activities for you your older kiddos as well.

Valentine’s Day Bible Activity Pack

This Valentine’s Day teach children the TRUE meaning of the word LOVE! This Bible-based, Christian Activity Pack includes 30 pages of multi-age activities, games, crafts and more. Designed to be low-prep and hands-on to keep little hearts and minds engaged.

Today I wanted to highlight how to use one of our new Valentine’s Day resources:

This little printable craft would be a great way for children to learn some
bible verses on love.

For each child you’ll need to print up the envelope
(on cardstock for best results)

The outside of the envelope reads,
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11

This is a very important verse, as children grow they must learn
that what is hidden in their heart is what comes out during times of trial.
( i.e. LIFE )

Once assembled you’ll see that the back of the envelope
contains eight different scriptures for children to memorize
as well as a little space to check off each verse.

These verses coorespond with a set of printable bible hearts, (page 1 page 2)

These are black and white verses, so you can print them onto colored paper
(yea for saving ink!)

Now, of course you can use these HOWEVER you like
Maybe handing out a full set to your students to take home,
Printing on cardstock and attaching to a lollipop, or even
Just using them to add to Valentine’s day cards and crafts.
(we’ve even got a few more printables to help with that)

But I would suggest that you actively use them
to help children commit these verses to memory.

Then as a child successfully recites each verse,
you give them the corresponding heart to put into their pocket.

(Thus, the verses in the pocket represent the verses they have hidden in their heart)

Maybe you do one or two each year…maybe the entire set…
Maybe you just keep this as a special teaching tool you pull out every Valentine’s Day.

Whatever you do with them don’t use them as a
“Hey! Look another thing I started but never finished” tool.

You know that guilt inducing tool we homeschool mom’s are so familiar with

Just have fun with it!
And if it overwhelms you Pin it and we’ll know that you’re “virtually doing it”

Looking for more Valentine’s Day fun?

A Simple but Effective Tip!

January 8, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 2 Comments

parts of speech printables

Today I just wanted to take a quick second
to share something that has been working for us.

If you follow me on facebook you saw I posted these
Parts of Speech printables last week.

Well, here is just a QUICK little tip for how to use them.

First I simply put them back to back in a page protector,
so that my children could store them in their binders.

Then, they can pick one of their reading assignments from the day,
and go through and find two of each of the different parts of speech.

(I have them underline them in different colors and make a key at the top)

I suppose it’s pretty obvious, but I loved how simple it was,
and that by the end of the week my children didn’t need much help
looking for the different words.

(Not to mention that there is WAY LESS complaining
when my kids get even the smallest bit of choice in the matter)

Happy Teaching!

Moses Bible Printables

January 5, 2012 By Valerie Mcclintick 5 Comments

This week we’re studying the life of Moses.

Using The Mystery of History as our guide, and reading directly from our family bible, we have spent our afternoons immersed in the life of this interesting, and very human man named Moses.

My children (and I) have been enraptured by the way God revealed himself to Moses, and the amazing miracles that were witnessed by so many. It is the ultimate adventure story.

I whipped up a few notebooking pages to go alongside our studies, and I’ve added them to our History Visuals pages.

Click Here for our Life of Moses History Printables

These are listed as the newest additions to our History Printables.

I’ve also made a few NEW file folder games that would go perfectly alongiside a Moses unit study.

And for your little tots, here is a simple bible verse and new vocabulary word to introduce.

Bible Printables: Abraham

November 1, 2011 By Valerie Mcclintick 8 Comments

abraham bible printables

This post has been a long time coming.

You might already know that we’re using
The Mystery of History this year,
(you might be annoyed of all my posts about the program),
but the program is amazing and has quickly become the CORE
of our homeschool days.

It’s that good.

I quickly found myself scheduling art projects, crafts, and even reading and writing assignments to surround the weekly themes that are outlined in the curriculum.

(Here’s more on that)

With the MOH program you spend one lesson on Abraham,
but we soon found that we were enthralled by his story and decided
to turn it into a month long lesson.
(Wow. The joy of homeschooling!!)

First we learned about the lineage of Christ, as mentioned in Matthew. There is also a lineage in Luke, but this one started at Abraham, and since we learned about the promise that many would be blessed through Abraham we chose the one in Matthew.

There is also a book with a CD called The Ballad of Matthew’s Begats. We listen to it all the time and just learning it helps us keep track of Who’s who! This also goes from Abraham to Jesus.

We also learned that God’s promise was to be fullfilled through his son Isaac and not his son Ishmael. So I made this visual to help explain the lineage and for my children to copy the specific promise from the bible.

We also learned about Lot, and Sodom and Gomorrah. So I made this visual to show the children what “raining sulfur” might look like.

abraham bible crafts

After reading about Abraham, we watched this great video that takes children from the first calling of Abram, to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. I have quite a few of the videos in this series, they have been wonderful teaching tools over the years. If you have Netflix you can order them too.

To wrap up our study I made this Bible File Folder Game called, “God’s friend Abraham.”
Included are four sheets of questions you can use to help children review facts about Abraham and the people around him. This is a great way to quiz children on what they remember from the lessons as well.

We had a fantastic time learning about Abraham, and I ended up creating a TON more printables, crafts, and worksheets for our sister sites.

You can find the Preschool resources here on ChristianPreschoolPrintables.com

And the K-5 resources here on BibleStoryPrintables.com

I hope you find these helpful for your own bible studies!

Mystery of History Activities

September 25, 2011 By Valerie Mcclintick 18 Comments

Have you solved the Mystery of His-Story?

We’re knee deep in our new History curriculum,
and loving every minute of it.

It’s The Mystery of History!
And it’s one of my favorite purchases this year,
and it was really worth every penny.

Before I got this curriculum I was a bit skeptical,
the price is what really stopped me,
but I found a great deal on ebay and decided to give
it a try.

Boy am I ever thankful I did.

If you’re not familiar with MOH, just looking at the program can be a bit daunting.
Initially I was pretty confused as to what programs I actually NEEDED, and what
parts were complimentary to the program.

(Thanks loyal FB followers for all the guidance!)

Since we’ve been using the program for a little over a month now,
I thought I’d post about what parts we are actually “Using”
and what parts aren’t getting used as much.

I purchased my set on ebay, and it included quite a bit of materials in the package.
You can get these (and more) individually from Bright Idea Press as well
I listed what we ended up with, below;
The products that we use the most have a little **star **

**MOH Curriculum Book**
(We use this book the most of course)

MOH Audio Curriculum
(I really thought we’d use this more, but not so much)

MOH Craft Pack CD
(Don’t use at all)

MOH A Crash Course from Creation to Christ by Linda Lacour Hobar on CD
(Don’t use at all)

MOH Printables & Reproducibles CD
(Semi-helpful, but I’ve got a copier at home)

**MOH Timeline Pieces**
(LOVE this set. Worth it)

**MOH Timeline Suggested Placement**
(This is quite helpful, not necessary but helpful)

MOH Coloring Pages
(Used for first couple of weeks, but kids weren’t interested

I also picked up a
**Blank Timeline from Miller Pads and Paper**

We are also using the Illustrated Children’s Bible when the lesson
coresponds with something that was recorded in the bible.
And here’s how we’re using the program:

Each week holds three lessons. So we are using
this program three days a week, one lesson for each day.
However because it’s VERY adaptable
we can expand a lesson to cover an entire week if needed.

Also for each lesson there are suggestions for follow up activities
that are age realated. We do these activities about 25% of the time.

For each lesson we are building up a timeline
(during which my children *graciously* take turns applying the glue stick
to the image and placing it on our timeline.)

As I mentioned before, I opted to pick up a cheaper brand of a blank timeline,
I’m not sure that it’s exactly the same size so we might run into problems later,
but so far we’re loving this aspect of the program, and with a $30 price difference
I’m sure we can figure out a way to make it work.

For the rest of the time we are using our own craft/activities
and our own notebooking visuals:

The notebooking visuals are just pages that help remind my children
some key facts that we learned. I’m big on visual memory techniques,
and we use these images during our lessons, review, and our oral quizzes.
I’m amazed at how much more information is retained when my little students
have something visually stimulating alongside the lesson.

If you want to follow along or print our MOH activities I’ve posted the first
three weeks here on our main site.
Again these are more like Visuals as opposed to notebooking pages, but they do
have small spaces throughout for children to customize the information.

(Note: There is actually a MOH notebook and lapbook for purchase too,
I didn’t pick one up myself, but the sample pages look great!)

Anyway, We are really excited about this program
I’m working on the next three weeks right now
and I”ll post them as soon as I finish!

Stay Tuned :)

Science Activities: Human Body

September 16, 2011 By Valerie Mcclintick 5 Comments

We are officially ending our second week of school, and I never
updated my Curriculum post to share what we finally
decided on for Science.

It actually took me quite a while to decide on what to do for science.
And I still don’t know what we’ll be doing for the ENTIRE year,
but I’ve finally got a good handle on the first few weeks!

I looked a a whole bunch of curriculum, but one day I was walking through
a bookstore and I spotted this:

human body science notebooks
Children’s Human Body Encyclopedia
The price was $9. and somewhere the frugal homeschooler
in me was inspired.

I had been looking at $30-$50 curriculum
and I just couldn’t resist the under $10 appeal…
I bought two of them, one for Sissy and one for Bubba.
(This will be our first year where each child has the same text book!)

I figured we’d just go through each topic together,
reading out of the text, and I’d supplement with our
own discussions (about God’s design) and our own
crafts and activities.

Later on I found these little gems to add to our Science Curriculum:

human body crafts

My First Human Body Activity Book
(This has amazing coloring pages of body systems)

my body printables
My Body
This book has reproducible patterns you can use to make
you’re own life size human body diagram.
(I got this one as an e-book)

So using these resources we’re going to be making a Human Body Science journal!
Starting off with SKIN!!

We’ve had a blast reading all about our skin,
and the kids have been loving all the different activities we’ve been
doing alongside them. We do science two days a week,
so over the last two weeks we had quite of bit of fun things to
add to our Science Journals.

I posted all of our activities and links to what we did on our main site,
but here’s a sneak peek at a few projects:

Sunscreen Science Project

Fingerprint Art

Science Journals

Come take a second to see the rest of our skin activities!

Oh, and if you see a little blue pencil in the title of the activity,
it’s something that can be added into your science journal!

Hopefully the ideas will inspire you to make you’re own journals!
And Stay Tuned……next up is the Human Brain!!

Fish, Flowers,Frogs….and a Flashback!

September 9, 2011 By Valerie Mcclintick 5 Comments

Did you know that I started blogging/websites when
my daughter was a preschooler?

In fact, my first website was dedicated to this age:
(ChristianPreschoolPrintables)

Psssst….Wanna see what CPP looked like when I first
started out in 2006? Pretty Rockin’ eh?

Ha!

Now it’s 2011 and my Sissy is entering 3rd grade.
My Bubba is entering 1st grade.
And my Monkey is teetering on Tot-Preschool Age.

It FEELS like
It’s been so LONG since I’ve had a Preschooler.
And now my little Monkey is almost there.
Almost.

Currently, Monkey is 2 years old and able to sit still
for about 4 1/2 minutes. A Day.

I know you think I’m exaggerating.

But, I love when people ASK ME what I do with Monkey
while I’m teaching the older children.
I really try not to burst out laughing.
If you only knew….

You see, usually when someone is asking that questions, what they
really want to know is:

WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS CRAZY MONKEY
WHEN I NEED TO TEACH _________.
(Fill in the blank with something that is hard to teach
when a buck naked, curly haired little primate is running circles
around your ankles, begging for “sippy” and “juice” and “cake” and “frogs”
and anything else that you don’t have in your pocket)

Cause somedays that’s really what it’s like.
Not all. But some.

(most days I really have to recall the words written in this book)

But, during the times in which my little Monkey wants
to quietly sit at the table for 4 1/2 mintues,
I want to have something fun and educational for him to do.

So tonight I made him some simple matching games,
with colorful REAL photographs that a little Monkey
can appreciate.

One with Frogs:

One with Flowers:

One with Fish:

Then (with all those F’s) I got to thinking that
I could make this into something a bit more FUN!
Something for my older kiddos to play:

A game for them to play in the wee hours of the morning

Perhaps long enough for a certain someone to sleep in
an extra hour or two.

So this is how I left the kitchen table:

I’m pretty sure my plan is going to work.
(I mean…What kid wants to go smell Mom’s morning breath
when they have a game like this to play?)

Seriously children.
The cereal is in the bottom cupboard for a reason.

Psssst…. Wanna sleep in like me?

Writing Notebook Printables

August 28, 2011 By Valerie Mcclintick 4 Comments

Oh, golly.

This is one of those posts that has been sitting in my “draft” box,
patiently waiting to be published.

It was meant for May.
(of 2011….so not too bad, but still)

Do you ever do that?
Get a post half finished then forget about it.
For months.

I do.
(obviously.)

However this time I think I lucked out,
because there is nothing Seasonal (i.e. Christmas in July)
about this post.

And it happens to be perfect timing for “Back to School”
so perhaps it was just meant to be.

I suppose I COULD delete this introduction and PRETEND that I planned it this way…..

But I guess what’s done is done, so without any further ado,
I present to you May’s post: TODAY~

writing notebook printables

Writing Notebook Printables:

I’ve been working (behind the scenes) on a writing notebook for Sissy.

Sissy is going into the 3rd grade this year, and writing is NOT her favorite subject.
(I’m sure she would say it a bit more eloquently, but you get the picture)

So to trick inspire my dear daughter into working on those NECESSARY
(and not something you’d want to cut from your school curriculum) skills, I came up with this Writing Notebook idea.

writting guide printables

And I know, I’m re-inventing the wheel here,
but sometimes having just the right method for just the right child
can work AMAZING miracles.

printable writing guides

The front of the notebook has a custom cover page,
(I made a boy or girl version you can snag too)

writing guide printable worksheets

The back of the notebook has an editing marks sheet for reference.

Please know that these might not be PERFECT printables.
There might be a spelling error.
The font is kinda funny and
my grammar might be incorrect.
(I’m sure the police will point that out to me shortly)

But they are what they are and I’ll be using them to inspire my little girl this year,
(I’ve got high hopes!)

Instructional Paper guide

So far I’ve uploaded a printable writing guide that will take children through the
steps needed to write an Instructional Paper.

And if you jump over to the main website, you might notice
quite a few more titles that I’ve got in the works.
(please read that to mean: Whenever I get a spare second)
(and please read Spare Second to mean: When pigs fly)

Oh the plans of a homeschooler…….

Scientific Method Printables

August 11, 2011 By Valerie Mcclintick 10 Comments

I’ve been meaning to make these for a while now.
Tonight I finally scratched the itch
and whipped them up…Just in time for the school year!

scientific method printables

I plan on using these with Sissy (Gr.3) and Bubba (Gr.1)
in hopes that they will learn the necessary steps to
execute a “Scientific” science experiment.

I haven’t yet decided on the different projects we’ll do
next year….maybe these will inspire my children to come
up with their own Hypotheses and interesting ways to test them!

Here’s what’s included:

scientific method chart

Printable Scientific Method’s Chart
(Or sequencing strips)

scienctific method worksheets

Printable Scientific Method Worksheet

scientific method printables

6 Printable Scientific Method Experiment Sheets
These are very child friendly and take children through the six steps, from forming the question to the final report.

You can download these all free in our Homeschool Printables page!

And what about you?
How do you work science experiments into your classroom?

Got any good projects planned for the year?
