Okay, I’ll be honest here……I can barely remember all the parts of a cell.

I have to Rap the parts or I will completely forget what each part is called and what they do.

But enough about my memory problems…..

If you’re really wanting to drive home the point, you could check out these awesome

4D Anatomy models by Famemaster, these would look awesome on a shelf in your classroom and you could pull them down for a quick review.

Science Printables: The Eye!

Last week we wrapped up our unit on the Human Eye,
so today I’ve got some fun printables and ideas to share with you.

If you’ve been following along we’ve already covered The Brain and Skin
in our eariler posts, and everything is linked up on our main site here.

For our main text we are using this Children’s Human Body Encyclopedia,

And for this specific unit we used The Human Body Book from Scholastic.

Science Activities: The Brain!!

We’re continuing on with our Human Anatomy science lessons.
If you haven’t already seen our activities for SKIN you can check out this post here.

These past couple of weeks we’ve been learning about THE BRAIN!

We made these amazing brain hats from EllenjMcHenry.com

We made our own brain puzzle to learn about the different lobes of the brain.

We made our own Electric Neurons

And I made the kids an Egg Carton Spinal Cord to use as a visual,
As well as a variety of printable games and activities and charts:

I even ordered a Brain Mold so we can make our own Jello brain!!

How fun will that be!

Science Activities: Human Body

We are officially ending our second week of school, and I never
updated my Curriculum post to share what we finally
decided on for Science.

It actually took me quite a while to decide on what to do for science.
And I still don’t know what we’ll be doing for the ENTIRE year,
but I’ve finally got a good handle on the first few weeks!

I looked a a whole bunch of curriculum, but one day I was walking through
a bookstore and I spotted this:

Children’s Human Body Encyclopedia
The price was $9. and somewhere the frugal homeschooler
in me was inspired.

I had been looking at $30-$50 curriculum
and I just couldn’t resist the under $10 appeal…
I bought two of them, one for Sissy and one for Bubba.
(This will be our first year where each child has the same text book!)

I figured we’d just go through each topic together,
reading out of the text, and I’d supplement with our
own discussions (about God’s design) and our own
crafts and activities.

Later on I found these little gems to add to our Science Curriculum:

My First Human Body Activity Book
(This has amazing coloring pages of body systems)

My Body
This book has reproducible patterns you can use to make
you’re own life size human body diagram.
(I got this one as an e-book)

So using these resources we’re going to be making a Human Body Science journal!
Starting off with SKIN!!

We’ve had a blast reading all about our skin,
and the kids have been loving all the different activities we’ve been
doing alongside them. We do science two days a week,
so over the last two weeks we had quite of bit of fun things to
add to our Science Journals.

I posted all of our activities and links to what we did on our main site,
but here’s a sneak peek at a few projects:

Oh, and if you see a little blue pencil in the title of the activity,
it’s something that can be added into your science journal!

Hopefully the ideas will inspire you to make you’re own journals!
