He is just too young for Cub Scouts this year,
but he is desperate be a part of a club (read: to start earning patches)
so I decided we would just go ahead and make up our OWN club.
Yeah. We’re dorky like that.
Way out of my budget this year…..
But how disappointed will Bubba be if he doens’t get to actually earn patches?
So I got to thinking and here’s a cheapo version I came up with.
$1.50 Lowes tool belt
$6.99 1″ Felt Pads like for under furniture (Came in 48 pack)
Pens, Puffy Paint….whatever you want.
Just decide what the theme will be for each of your patches
(or make different “levels” like we did)
And just get to work decorating them to suit your needs:
These would be super simple to adapt for your OWN club too!
As your child earns their patches, just peel the back off the
felt pads and stick them on their tool belt (or vest or chart or whatever you make them)
Obviously it won’t last FOREVER, but for a 5 year old boy who wants
to do good works, it’ll last long enough :)
And Bubba is super excited to get started earning his tool belt patches:
I’m hoping to share some of our upcoming projects on the main site.
It will be a SSSSLLLLLLLOOOOOWWWW process, but if you’re interested to see what I’ve got going,
you can check the list on our NEW Home Economics page!
Now to search the house for burnt out light bulbs and loose drawer handles…
I’m sure we can find him something to do soon!
