Printable Nets

Printable Nets

These printable nets can be helpful for teaching young students geometry and geometric concepts. Plus they are sorta fun to make! These printable nets are available free on our sister site FileFolderFun.com Here is a quick peek at how to assemble and use 3D nets in your math learning centers.

New3

We recommend you print your nets on colored paper.  This makes it more fun and colorful.

You can print on cardstock and laminate if you’re making a classroom set, but we’ve just used regular strength printer paper for this set.

New2

Cut your nets out carefully, the tabs are in light gray and can be difficult to see on the colored paper, so go slow!

Crease all your folds.  We assembled ours so that the lines are inside the shape and don’t show.

New1

Use a glue stick on the tabs for best results.

Here is how our cube looks when assembled!

They won’t be perfect, but they are an inexpensive way to add a little hands on fun to your math lessons.

    Hello,
I am currently a student teacher trying to find a way to teach finding 2D shapes within 3D prisms.
Do you think 2nd graders would be capable of creating these?
I am being observed for this lesson and would hate for the students to struggle with this.
    Thanks,
    Jeana

      Hi Jeana,

I’m not sure, I think it depends on the student. My daughter at second grade would be fine, but my son would smash this to pieces in frustration I’m sure!

I designed these more for a teacher to make in order to have a classroom visual to share with the students. However, the cube is the easiest, maybe you could make a set to bring to show, and then have all the students make a cube of their own?…..providing take home sheets for those who want to try more?

      Hope that helps?
