Today I’m SUPER, SUPER excited to share this post with you.
(Not just because there is a giveaway at the end)
But because I know you’re going to LOVE what I have to show you.
But first. Let me tell you a story.
It’s a story about a little boy.
A little boy who is bigger then two other little boys.
(I’m not naming any names here)
Well this little boy is a genius.
He is such a smart little boy.
He is WAY ahead in every subject,
He wants to know everything about anything,
He will talk non-stop for hours on end,
and his sense of adventure is unmatched.
However, this little boy is emotional.
and aren’t we all?
And this little boy has daily struggles.
He struggles with fairness,
He struggles with jealousy,
He struggles with honesty.
He whimpers and whines
at the thought of doing his chores,
And this little boy got lost at Walmart last week.
You can be sure that he was TOLD to follow.
But the boy just wandered off to the toy aisle instead.
This little boy is Five.
And the battle for his spirit is waging hard.
It is a long, hard, road to travel.
But it’s a fight that can be won.
One that is surely worth fighting for.
“Preach the word. Be ready to serve God in good times and bad. Correct people’s mistakes. Warn them. Cheer them up with words of hope. Be very patient as you do these things. Teach them carefully.” (2 Timothy 4:2 NIrV) -We Choose Virtues Teacher Memory Verse.
From Caterpillar…….to Butterfly!
We Choose Virtues is a character based education program
designed to help you build up biblical virtues in your child.
Using I am statements, simple catchphrases, and countering antonyms
We Choose Virtues takes children through 12 different biblical character traits.
Each virtue has it’s own catchphrases, bible verse, and corresponding activities.
The Teacher Cards are the “meat” of this program.
The front of the card is shown to the children, while
the back of the card provides you with everything you need
to teach the virtue.
Here is the Teacher Card for the virtue of Diligence:
I am statement:
“I am Diligent”
Catchphrase:
“I start fast, work hard and finish strong.”
I am NOT Statement:
“I am NOT slow to get started or lazy, and I don’t quit early!”
Virtue Verse:
All hard work pays off. But if all you do is talk, you will be poor.
Proverbs 14:23 NIrV(Note: Be sure and get the “Faith” versions of
these cards for the scripture references)
On the back of the teacher cards:
Virtue Verse
Virtue Catchphrase ( I am….I am not….)
Bible Hero with Scripture Reference
Teaching Tip
Kids of VirtueVille Story
Virtue User Challenge
Fun Demonstrations
What to Say After I’m Sorry
These are large (8″x10″) and perfect for large classroom settings.
(There are smaller Homeschool versions of these too)
You can see how handy this is, These are ready to go right out of the box!
You really can just pick up a card and start teaching.
The Teacher Cards come on heavy cardstock with a slick surface.
I considered laminating them,
but they were so pretty I just decided to put them
into page protectors and that way I could store them
in a three-ring binder.
I’m totally loving that decision!
We Choose Virtues has a wide variety of products.
In fact, we were sent a Teacher Starter Kit
which not only came with the Teacher cards, but
also included Virtue Flashcards and a Virtue Poster as well.
The Virtue Flashcards are just as beautiful!
They are vibrant and engaging, and come with game play ideas.
The front of each card features the Virtue and Virtue Character,
and the back includes the catchphrase and bible verse.
The Virtue Poster contains each of the 12 virtues,
virtue characters, catchphrases, and bible verse.
It makes a fantastic reference chart that you can return to
through out the day….again and again as needed.
There are so many other products you can use alongside these Teaching Cards!
There are sticker charts, wall posters, checklists, self-review sheets,
and even a coloring book!
In Fact, everyones a winner today because We Choose Virtues is giving

The product that would most helpful (since I can’t afford the whole kit and kaboodle, but would REALLY love to have it) would be the Teacher’s Virtue Cards-for the faith based family.
A good way to teach the virtues to children is by playing games or even role playing certain situations they may encounter and teaching the right way to react BEFORE they actually encounter it. =)
Oh my, this is a keeper! I am just starting our homeschool career and would love to incorporate this into our day. On the website I think the most helpful for me would be the faith based homeschool kit.
If I don’t win this will end up on our Christmas wish list.
this sounds like just what i am looking for. i would like a homeschool kit!

I just tweeted about the free coloring book offer!! =)
I would LOVE the Kids of virtue poster – patience, with a 3 year old in the house patience is not one of the strong points here!
We read a story about a boy who took initiative and made his bed and his parents bed on a Sunday morning when they were running late for church. Since reading that story, my kids get it. They can see opportunity for them to bless and take initiative. My 3 year old will come running to me and proudly say, “I did initiative Mom!” Funny thing is they are just as filled with joy ‘doing initiative’ as I am to hear they did it. I do point that out that taking initiative makes them happy and God happy too.
I also tell that that God sees and God smiles. The people you want to notice may not but that is ok. God sees.
I want to instill in them a desire to please God before man.
we learn about virtues about reading about a particular bible story and the character being taught in the story. sometimes, we act out the story and i ask my kids to tell me what they would do in particular situations. it has become very real and effective.
I would choose the faith based home school kit. We homeschool our daughters, ages: 16, 13, 11, and 8. We try out best to instill in them these virtues but sometimes we fall short! This looks like a wonderful help for our family …or any family!!
Just shared on FaceBook about the give away!
Just shared on FaceBook about the free coloring book also!!
My tip for how we teach virtues in our home: We live what we want them to learn. We are the example!
I like to make lapbooks on Christian subjects both for my Sunday school class to do and to take to my grandson in Arizona. As a grandmother, it’s an opportunity to try to instill Christain character and virtues in his little heart. I like the homeschooling kit as I think it would probably work for both areas. It would be helpful to have smaller cards that you could give to each child to take home.
I love the whole set. Wow. But I think the “100 Days of Virtue Chart and Stickers” is a really cool thing to have, as it helps the children to monitor their own spiritual growth.
I have shared the giveaway details on Face Book
I have posted the link to the giveaway on Facebook.
I have also posted the link for the free coloring pages on Facebook.
My Tip: I agree with Jenn Price – live what you teach. Kids are so quick to pick up on double standards, that we cannot allow them. For instance, my youngest keeps checking my speedometer, and also the road signs. If he picks up that I bent the rules to my own benefit, he learns that rules were made to be bent. Now, when he tells me I was going too fast, I say I am sorry, and immediately slow down, instead of making an excuse.
I tweeted about the contest. I’m so excited this looks great.

I posted about the free coloring book on FB, too.
WOW this program looks amazing for my homeschool! THe Virtue Flash cards look amazing as well!
Thanks so much for this offer!

One of the things I do to help teach virtue is to find a bible story dealing with that issue and we read about that person & how God dealt with them. Children often think grownups don’t have rules to follow or consequences and seeing that God deals with adults and even give’s them time outs for making poor choices has encouraged my children to seek to obey God (through) listening to mommy & daddy. they are still pretty little, but they do really want to put on God’s behaviors.

This sounds really great. I would want the teachers faith based kit.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would choose the Faith Based Home School Kit. What a great resource, thank you for sharing it with your readers!
I just printed out 2 copies of the colouring book. I was looking for something for my kids to do in our “school holidays” this week while my husband & I paint two bedrooms & you’ve answered my prayer, Thanks! I’m grateful for the scripture list and Character assessments too (which I also downloaded)! I’d love the homeschool kit – but with renovations in full swing our budget won’t stretch that far at this point in time…definitely on my most wanted list!
The Kids of Virtue-Ville Posters put around the house would be FANTASTIC! Get it engrained into the kids subconscious every time they walk past.

My best tip for teaching virtues is to be virtuous yourself! Very, very hard to maintain – but the children pick up so many of our mannerisms, if we’re virtouos then it rubs off on them too.
I believe this giveaway kit would be the most useful to us. However, the Home School Kit – Faith based would be helpful as well.

Thank you so much for introducing these products to us! I was online this morning looking for something in the “character development” category to teach my children and your site popped up. I downloaded the coloring book immediately. :) I would of course absolutely LOVE the homeschool kit (I’m homeschooling three little ones) but if I had to pick one thing it would be the virtue character cards. Thanks again and I’m so happy I found your site!
We just try to teach the kids character by example and the Bible. But I’ve never done an actual character study! One more thing on my list now!
I am linking this to my facebook site right now! :)

Boy do I EVER NEED these. My girls are struggling, and it seems like no matter what I do/don’t do, I am lacking and not sure what to do. I have been eyeing up the Faith based Homeschool Kit for a very long time, but I just couldn’t afford them. I’m so glad that there’s a coupon code, so even if I don’t win, I’m hoping to be able to purchase at least the faith-based teacher cards. Thank you SO much for the opportunities to win these!!! :)
Awsome! We would love a homeschool kit!
I also put up the second link to the Virtues website. Thanks!

I LOVE We Choose Virtues! I would love to have this whole set. Awesome!
Made a Facebook post about the coloring book :)
I love the kit! I think my favorite part is the simple definitions of the virtues on the cards. Sometimes it’s hard to explain the meaning of these words to younger children. The definitions used with this program are at a child’s level of understanding making it easy for them to grasp the meaning.
The best advice I can give for teaching virtues to children is to model them yourself. Kids learn so much by just watching what we do everyday. Be the example you want to see in your children.
Again, we are severly struggling for virtue over-here, but one thing that does seem to be helping is prayer and an attitude change for mommy. I have learned that my girls often react to one another based on how I react to their fighting. When I change my perspective and my reactions, it really seems to help some.
I have scheduled a tweet and facebook post tomorrow about the giveaway.
Here’s my TIP for teaching virtues. Actually my husband came up with it. We were talking about Exodus and the Israelites wandering in the wilderness. He came up with DON’T CALF – “don’t DisObey, don’t Nag, don’t Talk back, don’t Complain, don’t Argue, don’t Lie, and don’t Fuss”. What do you do instead? The Fruits of the Spirit! – and then the kids proceeded to memorize and quote Ephesians 5:22-23. Now, every time they violate one of these, they have to quote both the list of DON’T CALF and Ephesians 5:22-23. THEN, they have to tell us which one they violated and which one they should do instead. It’s pretty effective because my kids are getting tired of doing all the recitation. :)
I have scheduled a tweet and facebook post tomorrow about the coloring book.
I would love to have this. I have been looking for away to teach virtues to my son and this is perfect.
This looks great! The product that would be helpful for me is: HOME SCHOOL KIT-faith based
Just shared about the giveaway on Facebook.
OK – Fifth entry. :) I included a link to both your site and the “We Choose Virtues” site on my website / blog at http://www.jkdewey.com/homeschoolinglinks.htm. I put yours under the “blog” section and the Virtues site under the “Character Development” section.

Our church offers a non-religous English as a Second Language program for refugees. We are always looking for great material to use with the kids. I would use the Community Based Teacher Starter Pack! But I would also love the one for homeschool as I homeschool my 2 children as well.
I’ve been looking for an easy virtue/character based set of ideas that isn’t too much information for my young boys. This is perfect! I would choose the homeschool kit for our home!
I also shared this on my FB page.
WOW! What a fabulous giveaway!! I would love to have every product on their site! I am new to homeschooling this year & have been searching for a product just like this to help make the Biblical virtues I teach my children more real to them. This starter set would be PERFECT! Thank you!
wow! what a great giveaway, I would love to win it. I really struggle to teach the virtues to my kids, I get caught in the trap of `realitivism’ and forgot God gives us absolutes. I posted on FB and `liked’ everything I could! ;)
product I would choose if finances allowed would be homeschool kit, product I would settle for would be the flashcards. I can build around flashcards myself. The kit would simply make it easier. :)

The teacher cards really look like an awesome tool!
these look great! I can’t decide between the homeschool faith based teacher’s kit, and the youth mentor kit. I will be putting them both on my wish list for future purchases.
I would love to the character cards for reference, display, etc. Great concept! Awesome product!

This set looks amazing. It would be a real blessing to win! Thanks for the free coloring book. The characters are adorable.
Entry # 1 – We’d probably benefit most from the HOME SCHOOL KIT-faith based.
I have looked at lots of character training programs and this looks great! Excited to use the coloring book and the teacher kit would be great!

Entry #5 – We repeat catchphrases to our kids. When they “just can’t wait anymore” we say things like, “The great thing about patience is the more you use it, the more you have.” Repeating phrases like that seems more effective than phrasing things differently each time when reminding them of something.
(sorry, that was #4)
Like quite a few others, I’d choose the homeschool kit (faith version), given the right finances…
I think we’d most enjoy the flashcards. We have a word of the week board and I find it hard sometimes to integrate the ideas as easily as I’d like. Trust has been a real killer this week.
I think the Teacher’s Starter Kit would be perfect for my preschool Sunday School Class.
I think the most helpful for me would be the homeschool kit. We are in our second year of homeschooling and would love something that all the kids can do together rather than separate lessons on different Bible stories.
I posted the link to the giveaway on facebook.

Hands down the Homeschool Kit – faith based would be the most beneficial to my family, but even the faith based flash cards would be a blessing. This is an awesome thing.
My family would most benefit from the homeschool kit.

A tip on teaching children virtues is to pick out one virtue a week and each day discuss how they have or can do that virtue that day.
I will most like the flash cards with the info on the back. THat seems really handy. We have 8 kids and I need things to be really simple and quick. I could huddle them up and read from the backs with out much other effort. I LOVE the look of this kit!
Thanks for passing on about a great resource. I am teaching the Fruit of the Spirit to my kids this year in our devotions and this will go hand in hand with it. I jsut checked out their website and there are lots of things to love about this set. One of my favorites – I love that they have two different series (one for 3 to 11 yr olds and one for 11 to 18 yr olds) so each of my four kids can get the message at their own level!

Entry 2: I posted the coloring book on my facebook page.
I shared the giveaway on Facebook with all my friends.
I shared the free color on Facebook too.
Wow, love these. Plan to use the faith based program both at home and at sunday school and sparks. I think that everyone in our family, especially me, will benefit from repeating the I am catchphrases and verses often.
Entry 3: For us I believe the Kids of VirtueVille Posters are ideal because it is a visual for small children , as mines, that is attractive and simple for them to understand.
I’ll purchase either the teacher cards 8×10 version or the faith based family flashcards.
We love the “Character Sketches” Series. Great Virtues that go with an animal and a bible character. Very well done – full of meaty science and great heros of the faith…some not so well known. Definately a classic!
I LOVE the teacher cards!! What an awesome resource for homeschool mom and classroom teachers alike, as well as kids minisrty team members!! That would be AWESOME!! Facebook “liked” as well!! Thanks!!
One of the keys so far in teaching our kids virtues has been defining them. For example, we look at what obedience means. It is more than just do what I say. It is doing it now and with a willing heart. It is doing what you know you should be doing even if I don’t say it. It is don’t do what you know you should not be doing. We spend a week or two each night at the supper table defining what correct virtues mean and how we expect our family to live it out.
Posting on facebook, really excited about these.
Not very good at this but I’m persevering by posting yet again that I put both the free coloring book (with my own personal review) and the giveaway on my page.
I would love to get the homeschool version! This looks fantastic- thanks for telling us about it.
Posted this on my facebook- I am sure my friends would love to have this coloring book and system.
We would definitely benefit from the Homeschool Kit (faith based). My daughter has been struggling with a lot of these virtues and I’ve tried so many things. I believe it would be a real blessing to win this!
We would love the flash cards and poster becuase it is something I can reference on a regular basis. I alos like the teacher card binder idea :)

I think the TIP we would use is memorizing using a game. We use games to memorize everything and it would be fun to use this :)

#5 – One of the most effective means I have found for teaching virtues is to point out real life examples to the children. When we see someone being kind, I draw their attention to it. When we see someone being honest, we talk about the blessings that come with honesty.
My tip: we read the Bible together every morning! Especially Proverbs :)
#1 – I would love to have the homeschool kit-faith based. Considering that we homeschool and have four boys…Choosing Virtues sounds fantastic! jaslinn77@yahoo(dot)com

Most definitely I would pick the Teacher’s Starter Kit. I am not able to only buy part of something wonderful and this kit seems to have most of what I would need.
#1 The homeschool kit would be great for us.
#5 I find that teaching and having them write down verses from the book of Proverbs to be an excellent way to instill virtues in our children (as well as adults).
Thank you for this giveaway. jaslinn77@yahoo(dot)com
Wow! I have never seen the We Choose Virtues until now! It looks great!!! The product that would be most helpful to me would be the home-school kit faith-based.
#5: Sometimes I make up stories that have children in them (that are remarkably VERY similar to my own children and also are struggling with the same character issues)…I’ll put the children in a situation and of course, the children in the story choose right every single time. I always include Bible examples in these made up stories. The kids seem to love them and only my oldest (7) has figured out that the stories are about them. LOL!
I would start with the Kids Virtue poster. I think having it hanging up would be a great big start for us.
Wow! This is awesome and an answer to prayer! I have been searching for something to teach morals, values, character to my 2 and 6 year olds! We love reading Bible stories and talking about them but I think my children struggle to apply it to “their” lives!! I have looked at several programs but this one seems to be exactly what we need! I love the repetition! After looking at the products I wasn’t sure which one would be best for us – The Teacher Kit or the Homeschool Kit but after taking a closer look I think the Homeschool Kit is perfect for our family! I would love to win the give-away but I will be adding this to our list of NEEDED resources and budget it in! Thank you so much for sharing!!

#5 We use an example from the Bible about the virtues and give them verses from Provebs and then use a real life example of how it would be practiced.

The Homeschool Kit would be awesome! :)
#5 Children seem to have a built in sense of justice – or what is fair / not fair to them at least! I have taken stories that they tell me of how they have been wronged and ask them to think about that person or situation in a different light. The girl who was mean – what is going on at home? She just lost a family member and is hurting. I try to get them to look outside themselves and see the other person with empathy the way Jesus does. We pray for that person and talk about opportunities to be patient, kind, loving, etc… I saw a real turn-a-round in my daughter last year with kids at her dance school. Now working on sibling relationships!

Thank you for such an amazing giveaway! The product that is most likely to meet our needs, is the Homeschool Starter Pack. Because they only offer this in Faith Based, I would prefer they offer it with different bible translations for those of us who don’t use the NIrV. Either that or offer them blank with a list of recommended scripture passages. Then I would just print my own clings, and add them to the card! Otherwise, I adore their products!
After looking at the site I would say the homeschool kit would be wonderful but any of the products would be useful in teaching my son.
This set would be perfect for my 4 and 5 yr old!I have been looking for something to teach them christian character and values!
I would love the Homeschool Faith based kit. We have been doing a character study but having the awesome flashcards and coloring pages would just add soo much to our activities!!
The homeschool kit looks great. We could use a little more obedience around here. A lot more, actually.
I would love the teacher starter kit (faith based)! What an awesome program…I’ve been looking for something just like this for my little guy!
I posted their link on facebook too!
#5 My tip would be to be a model for virtues. And when you mess up….cause you will – model repentance and forgiveness to your child. Use the lingo…instead of saying “Be nice” to your little one, say “practice kindness.”
I’m very excited about your products! I’ve been looking for something just like this for my classroom. I teach grades kindergarten through fourth at a Christian school. My student would really benefit from the classroom package. Thank you for all you’re doing! :)

I think the Teacher’s Virtue Cards for the Faith-Based Family would be really helpful for our family. I could see using them during a family night & then referring to them again & again! #5 Tip: Use life lessons as examples of virtues. When we see someone being honest, I pint it out. We talk about the blessings that come with each virtue.
I love the poster and the flash cards. My kids enjoy learning things through games and they will love these cards.
I would like the HOME SCHOOL faith based KIT.
I like the kids church kit. The coloring book is great too!

Just posted the free Virtues coloring book. I’m starting with the book with my kids now. Thanks.
We take every chance we get to point out opportunities to make good choices and praise our kids when they do make good choices. When a wrong choice has been made, we discuss that and talk about what choices would have been better. We also encourage our kids to point out each others’ good choices.
I would love the Homeschool Kit. I have seen this program mentioned several times on a homeschool board that I frequent. Just haven’t had the additional funds. It would be great for my very visual son.
What a great giveaway! I think I would love most the Faith-Based Homeschool Kit most. :)

My tip: we look up verses in the Bible pertaining to the virtue and look for some real life examples to follow and not follow.
My TIP for teaching children virtues is to remember that they are their own person. What might come naturally to one child might be extremely difficult for another. Just as Christ meets us where we are, we must meet them where they are.
i think the character assessments would be very helpful!
my tip: stay consistent!
I would love to have the Homeschool Kit!

I would love to win the Homeschool Flashcards!
5) My tip is something I started recently that seems new and exciting so it’s working for now…I made a weekly calendar and my son fills in an act (or more) each day where he used one of the virtues we’re discussing. It keeps it fresh in his mind and applying the practical part of it in his daily actions.
My tip, which is already encompassed by this curriculum (obviously), is to refer children to the Bible verse that discusses the virtue/character fault that we are working on, so that they can hear it from an authority higher than a parent.
#1 – I like the faith based homeschool kit. It contains everything I need to teach my children. Thank you for this giveaway!

#5 – My tip for teaching virtues is to model them as well as train the child. Children often learn through watching and if we can’t demonstrate what we teach they will not follow!
I would really love the faith based homeschool kit. Thank you.
I wrote a blog post about this at:

I don’t have any valuable “tips” exactly, but I’m using Day by Day Devotions: A year of character building devotions for kids
with my kids this year.
1) I visited WCV and sent email with the product that would be useful for our family, and just in case I went to the wrong place ;) it will be the 13 teachers cards!! we have two boys (6,2.8 y/o) we homeschool and our primary lessons is building caracters!! Thank you for the opportunity.

Would love the homeschool teacher cards!
Something helpful I have done in the past in teaching character to my kids was have them memorize definitions to character traits and when I saw them doing those traits (for example: obedience), I highly praised them for doing that. Pointing out their good character traits really seems to help them understand what they should be doing.
Would love to have the posters.

I’d love the Teaching Virtues Cards for the Faith-Based Family
I posted the giveaway on my FB page
I tweeted about your fabulous giveaway. This looks so simple . . . so good . . . refreshing way to teach about the virtues to my three fun and crazy boys.
I also tweeted about the cute free coloring book.
Honesty, I think your giveaway . . . the kit is what would be the best option for our household. And I’m not trying to take the easy way out . . . just being honest. Pick me!!!!
And my tip . . . talk about a virtue everyday. Last year we used this great printable from Sarah’s Sweeties that rocked!
I would like the poster and sticker set, as my daughter loves stickers so it would be very motivating, but I’d certainly settle for the poster, teacher’s cards and flash cards.
This is a great giveaway! These look amazing! I went to the website and I think the teacher posters and the coloring pages would help me and my family the most.
My tip would be to show your child these virtues in your own life. Point out to them when you fail and how you could have done better. Show them when you do well. Ask them to pray with you and for you (and you do the same for them) to always show these qualities in your own lives.
I think the cards are the most helpful. Positive reinforcement!
I want the cards to use during my circle time with my Kinders.
my tip is to use the cards and posters to create min plays for the kids to act out. great for readers theatre.
I commented on facebook about the virtues program and the coloring book.

we homeschool 4 ages5-11 (one with special needs)…would love the homeschool teacher cards…these would be great and easy to carry with us as well.
I would love a teacher set of the values cards! Thanks!
I would love the Church Kit, then I could use it at home with my homeschooler and as the children’s pastor at our church, I could use it with the 90+ school-agers there!
We homeschool 7 children who range in age from 3-19. I have shared the information on FB, Twitter and via email. I would love to use this curriculum with our children. My favorite part of it would likely be the Faith Based Teacher Starter Kit.
Thanks for offering this giveaway.
Have a wonderful evening.

Wow! I’d so be able to make use of the Homeschool Kit!

My TIPS… I have children act out both sides of the virtue that needs work and then emphasize the scripture.
Wow! I love the definitions of the character qualities…also the artwork — everything is so “alive”! All seems like it would be great for teaching character! Thanks for the chance to win!
I am drooling over the virtues kit, but I think my older kids need a boost of virtues as well. I love the Youth Mentor’s Kit!

I would love the flashcards & game ideas.
The books Storytime and the Millers and Wisdom and the Millers have been helpful in teaching character traits to my children.
Visiting from Carrie @homeschoolgiveaways and really I’d love everything on that site. I’ve seen it before but lack of funds have prevented me from being able to buy anything. :)
a Tip? hmmm Not sure I have anything specific other than I find that if I model the behavior I seek, it is more likely my kids will follow. If they do something wrong, I get on their level and explain simply why we act a certain way. Works on everyone but my teen. :)
I love the Homeschool Kit faith based. What a fun way to teach virtues to children. I wish I would have discovered this when I was purchasing our Homeschool products for the year.
We try to lead by example, but it would be nice to have a little help. The flash cards would be very helpful and keep us on track.

I would probably pick the Teacher’s Virtue Cards-for the faith based family. I would love the Homeschool kit, but the price is a bit steep for my pocket book.
One thing that I’ve found that helps children learn virtues is to lead them to understand it themselves. Have them figure out what they’ve done wrong, what they should have done, and what virtues the right behavior exhibits. Discovering it themselves works better than you just preaching it to them.

I would love to have the Faith Based Homeschool Kit. These products are exactly what I’m looking for to use with my little boys.
Things we do for character quality, is to refer to a person in the Bible whom perhaps has had difficulty with the quality in question. We discuss what the person did and how they opened up their hearts and mind to God and his plan for them. And if they did not try to overcome a difficult character quality it stood in the way of them being part of God’s plan and for being blessed. For my children with special needs understanding that perhaps a person they look up to in the Bible had character issues and had to overcome it with God’s help, it makes it seem more real and something that they can do. Hope this helps.
Last year for our character studies we would pick a character and read a book related to it and study a memory verse. This year during our lunch I have been reading stories from The Children’s Book of Virtues by William J. Bennett. They love this collection of poems and stories and can’t wait until the next day to hear more. They seem to really stick with them.
Hi Valerie,

I just checked our WCV and WOW! I wish I would have found this product a long time ago. It looks like so much fun. The colors and the characters are really likeable and I know the kids would love it!
I want this product so much. I’ve actually lookd at it 3 times now and I really do want it. I shared the link on Facebook. I’m really hoping that God helps me to win this. I know my 3 boys could really use it!
Ooo, I really like the Three Rules poster. Nice and simple.
I love the flash cards! It is very colorful. I wonder how it compares to Character First? I added it to my facebook too. At first glance: I like that it is overtly Christian. Character First doesn’t use the Bible verses. Or as much color…
I posted the giveaway on FB.
The teacher cards would be great to have!
I posted on Facebook ~ Thank you for the words to use!
I’d Tweet if I Tweeted, but I don’t Tweet. : (
The students and teachers in my academy would greatly benefit from this visual aid, as would I! What a brilliant group of products.
Thank you so very much!
I did not see this original post, so I thought I would try again.
I do not normally enter giveaways, because I just do not seem motivated to do so.
This giveaway is different as it pertains to helping my children continue to work on character traits that are very hard to put in a concrete and hands on, visual way. My three youngest have Autism.
The products I am impressed with so far, after viewing the website, is the assessment, the list of Bible Verses that pertain to character quality on their website. The first tools help me to see where we could still use some work.
Next, the verses help me to direct my children to the verses in the Bible that help back up what Mom is teaching. Remember God is the one we answer to, and then Mom.
For us the cards and the packets in the giveaway would give us the needed visuals and hands on component. This being the reason I decided to try.
Becca
I also posted both your giveaway and the coloring book on my facebook page.

One of the things I have noticed at home is to have the scripture up on the wall in my house. I have different scriptures on an 8×10 paper – with color and pictures. I still find my kids stopping to read those scriptures.
I like the flash cards!
I’ve never done anything like this before, I rarely even get on facebook, but this curriculum looks awesome, so I posted about it on my facebook- now even more people will know about it :) I hope I win!! Thanks

The best tip I know for character building is to be the best example you can be…and surround yourself and your kids with others who share these same values. It’s also ok to let your kids know that everyone makes mistakes (including you) and we just have to pick ourselves up and start again.
This looks awesome. I would LOVE the homeschool kit!
This looks neat. I love the “I am” “I am not” statements.
I think the flashcards and game ideas would be most helpful to me (my boys are very competitive), although it all looks great.
I LOVE the idea of the “Youth Virtue Journal” set. I think we would love those with our bigger homeschoolers!

this year, now that all 5 of my kiddos are big enough to understand we were going to use “Character Counts” activity books, add in our own Bible verses and have a small bulletin board to coordinate with whatever “virtue” or “character” trait we are studying. :=) My oldest 2 will be doing story starters as well as reading books to go along with the specific virtue.
I would love to use this with my children! Looks like an excellent program, simple to use and effective to learn!
The youth character assessment is great for helping see where kids are atand where they need boosting. I love that there is a homeschool version for us to use as well!
I posted on facebook about the drawing and website!

My tip for virtue training is to read a chapter of Proverbs outloud every day with the children. 31 chapters works very well with 31 days in a month!
I tweeted and facebooked the giveaway!
The virtual family flashcards would be a great start to our home education kit! They would be a springboard for our family bible study :)
While I would love the homeschool kit, I imagine it’d be more prudent to purchase the youth mentor kit due to having two older children.

We have always dealt with character training as it happens. We try to always have a verse to address the issue and always bring it back to God’s desire of action/attitude not making it about mom or dad.

We just started using the Duggar Family list of character traits. We are memorizing a scripture right now for gentleness instead of anger. We’ve been talking about ways to be gentle and trying to correct when anger gets the best of us.
Thanks for telling me about this product! It looks awesome and like something our family could really use right now :)
I think the faith-based teacher virtue cards would be the most helpful for us.

Virtues Tip: One thing that we have done is label good virtues when we see them in our children’s behavior. For example, we say, “Thanks for being honest.” or “That was a very kind thing you just did by sharing your favorite toy.” We also speak into our children what we want to see in them. For example, “You have such a kind heart.” and “You are good at telling the truth.” It makes them want to show these good character traits even more :)
Here’s my tip for teaching virtues to children. First of all, of course, virtues need to be consistent in the teacher’s life. I really like finding stories to read that emphasize virtues. The book The Quiltmaker’s Gift written by Jeff Brumbeau is a beautiful story that teaches about the joy that comes from having a generous heart. Reading engaging tales and discussing them is my favorite way to instill virtues in my child’s life.
I like the looks of the faith-based program.
just fb the coloring book…looks good
Tip: Make sure you look for opportunities outside of the home to point out the virtues you are teaching. (Seeing someone working diligently, etc.)
just fb the program.

My tip for teaching values to kids is to give them good examples of good virtues being used. I like the Nest History Classics. They always show that the people struggled for what was right and that they (usually) turn to God for strength. But honestly I think the best example is when we exhibit those virtues ourselves and talk about our need to be patient or kind, even when we don’t feel like it!
By the way the slash cards are very cool!
Please unsubscribe me at this time. Thank you for all you do.
I like the kids church kit, great for sunday school!
I think this curriculum is wonderful! It’s so bright and colorful and so important to teach our young kids. I love the idea of the chart and stickers! That sounds like alot of fun!
I vissited the website and think the teacher cards would be most helpful to me.
I facebooked about this giveaway.
I facebooked about the free coloring book.
I like the whole kit. The Virtues post will look nice on the fridge.
My tip for teaching children about virtues is to teach them a Bible verse about each virtue you are wanting to build in thier lives and then reinforce these virtues whenever you see them doing them or doing the opposite.
I liked you on face book and downloaded the free coloring book for Virtue Kids. I’d really like to win the teacher pack.
The poster or teacher cards would be the most valuable to me. I am just embarking on my 2nd year of teaching my 2 children with additional needs (Grades 2 and 5). The hurdles they face can make things difficult, when you add in an equally impulsive sibling and an unsaved dad, teaching a godly attitude and character require constant attention. God’s blessed me with a sure fire way of not having the luxury to forget that I also need to model that! Of course SOME days, it doesn’t feel like a blessing, but I know it is really : )
It was hard picking which would be the most useful!
I went to the website. Would love this for my little ones!
Hi. I posted the link on my Facebook page. I looked at the products and I ‘choose’ the homeschool kit as the one that would be most useful overall. Everything looks great, though!

the sheets are very good for the children

I think this looks like a wonderful program. I have shared the information and link on Facebook. The beginning of your blog described my son to a T. I felt like you wrote it about him. I know that God sent me to this site today. I am always looking for ideas to help them get on the right track. Thank you!
The virtue charts would be great for my children who are trying to learn to have good attitudes! Thanks so much!
A tip for teaching virtues is to example them in your own life first! Children love to follow their role models.
I really like the teacher cards but would like the whole starter pack to supplement our homeschool pre-k.
Though all the products listed on the website appear to be wonderful, the Homeschool Kit would be the most beneficial to our family. I am schooling a second grader, Kindergartner, and Preschooler this year. We are memorizing a verse each week that ties to particular character traits. It’s a lot of work for me to find verses and stories that illustrate the trait while also making it applicable to various ages.
I love the rules Chart!!!
The whole kit would help to work wonders
Wow! I love the Teacher cards and flash cards! What a fun way to incorporate character training!

I would really like to use the posters. They are bright, colorful, and meaningful, where we could focus on the character traits, while raising such little ones (right now my boys are 3 and almost 2).
I would love to have the rules chart – it would even be good for church!
the kit would really help at home
Thank you
Blessings
Tip : We choose a character trait of the week to focus on. We talk about it all week, write the definition on the board , and try to put it into practice. When a child gets “caught” demonstrating that character trait, they get a “character mark” on the board. Whoever has the most points at the end of the week, gets to go to the store with Dad and pick out a “character treat” for the whole family (usually a sweet treat).
I posted the free coloring book on FB.
I did a blog post about the giveaway on my website http://www.kingdommommy.com/2011/09/we-choose-virtues-do-you/
