We are officially ending the first month of the new year!
You know what that means right?
It means that we’ve all had at least 30 days to test out our New Years Resolutions!
So how’s it going for you?
Are you cruising along a steady pace?
Are you slowly puttering out?
Or are you starting to realize your headed in the wrong direction?
Me?
Hmmmm…
Well more on that later….
But lets just say that we took a big “Homeschool Step”
At this point it is still undetermined whether this was
A Forward step,
Or a Backward step,
Or perhaps even a Sideways step.
But undoubtedly a Step was made.
And we’re rolling with it.
I will say that Part of that step involves the choosing of new curriculum.
(I can hear your shock through the speakers on my computer)
Shhhh….Calm down. I know you think I’ve got it all figured out.
But I don’t. Not even close.
Because seriously?
What kind of a teacher changes their entire way of homeschooling in the middle of the year?
Especially without a new way of homeschooling to replace the old one.
Perhaps, when something isn’t working you just have to throw it out before you contaminate the baby with
the dirty bath water.
Or something like that? Hmmm.
You’ll have to forgive me, I’m a bit sleep deprived.
(nursing will do that to you)
(So will nursing while shopping for homeschool curriculum.)
Lately because of said STEP, I’ve been spending the wee hours of the night over here. And here and here.
But mostly my time has been spent HERE:
Why?
Because I love INSTANT gratification.
Yup. I’m American, what can I say.
I love that I can click “Buy” and I have my children’s lessons printed up and in my hand within the hour. I love that I can print multiple copies for both my children, and that I can save the downloads for my two babies should I still have my wits about me and decide to homeschool them too.
The only bad thing that I could ever say about this site is that some materials are so colorful that it would be easier for me to just go purchase a full color workbook from the nearest teacher store instead.
Well, apparently I’m not the only one in the world….Ahem… who thought that
because CurrClick is now in the process of adding PRINTED materials to their website
Really Cool right?
I think this idea ranks right up there with their earlier addition of Live Classes!
CurrClick just keeps getting better and better!
And this week it’s better for you!
Because after reading that enormously long introduction,
You are now at the part where you get to win something!
Yeah!
Just look at all the goodies that we get to give away:

Thanks for being so honest about not having it all figured out! I am a 15 year veteran of the elementary classroom who has recently crossed the bridge with confidence to homeschool. I’ve had a loose style pre-K experience going with my 2 & 4 year old. My 4 year old is reading as well as a 7 year old so my 2011 challenge is to design a custom blend of curriculum (some I’ll probably write myself!) to match his individual skill set when we start a more formal structured Kinder in the fall. I would love to win free resources!

My homeschooling resolution for this year is to find a Math curriculum that works for my eight year old. We have been through several and it is still a struggle for her. So looking for something to teach the basics without the tears and lots of fun!
Well, my HS resolution for 2011 stems from what happened in 2010 – my breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Thankfully my son is a great, independent learner and has been working most of the time without me and succeeding.
BUT now it’s time for me to be more of a teacher than facilitator! I’ve had a good break, but *I* want to learn along with my son – courses/subjects I never had in high school.
I absolutely love CurrClick, too! I never thought of it being instant gratification, but it’s so true! No waiting for the BBT to arrive (big brown truck = UPS)!

My New Years resolution is just to start on time, 8:30 to be exact.
Our homeschool resolution is to be more relaxed and not worry.
Whuke my babies are still very little and not yet *required to have formalized education, I have resolved to spend a few hours a week with my 2.5 year old “doing school”. She is very bright and needs constant stimulation to keep gerbils of trouble. Thankfully she lives learning and “doing school”…but with a new baby in the house, I have had a hard time sitting down with her on a regular schedule.

My homeschool resolution is to be more disciplined with planning ahead. This being my first year… let’s just say I am learning a little more about myself :^)
Our resolution was to include more crafts in our homeschool curriculum, and to be more hands off and allow our kids to create, even if the end results look different than the ‘plan’.
My homeschool resolution would be to get my 6yo daughter started in the 2nd grade by the end of this year. She is just about ready to start 1st (by the end of March).

My homeschool resolution is to focus less on academics and more on character training with my 7-year-old. Thanks!

My 2011 resolution is to focus on spending more time with my little guy doing “school”. Its easy to run out of time and energy helping his big sisters.
My resolution was to get my son into a “school” routine because we will officially start hs’ing this coming fall. BTW I love Currclick and agree that the instant gratification is awesome.

This year is the year of Rest and Routines. I am determined as never before to rest in the Lord and what He has for me each day while pursuing more calm routines for my children and home. Down with the tyranny of multi-tasking! Down with unneeded activity! Yes, to relationships! Yes to the peace that passes all understanding!

My 2011 Homeschool resolution is to figure out how to juggle my time/kids better during homeschooling (I now have 3 homeschoolers Kind./2nd/4th) and also have a 2yo and 4yo. It is very challenging to me sometimes to have 3 kids asking for help and figuring out how to keep the smaller ones busy at the same time. That and having craft time can be *quite* challenging too! ;)
To finish the year strong WHILE enjoying my 5 year old.
My resolution for this year was to make myself get up earlier and have quiet time and a bible study (with a cup of coffee) with my husband EVERY morning before the kids wake up. So far so good!! The time in the morning has helped me be way more focused when school starts :)
New year’s resolution.. I don’t make them, but I’ve become more intentional about how I home school since this coming January.

2011 Homeschool Resolution to help my children conquer the math facts appropriate for their grade level and to give them a solid foundation of American Geography while we travel.
My home school resolution has been to be “in the moment” and not thinking about what else we have to accomplish or planning for the next thing.
I liked the crafty classroom.
My resolution would be to make other through our reading curriculum and to always think of fun ways to learn. Also to get a chore system in place!!
My resolution is to stop giving in to the workbooks & textbooks & living up to others ideals. I want to put the fun & adventure back in our homeschooling!
My homeschool resolution was to STOP. I just wanted to stop doing what we always did. I just wanted to stop feeling like there was more I should be doing. I just wanted to stop looking at the piles of stuff and clutter in my school area. So, I did an extreme makeover of the school room. Everything that did not feel right went in the ‘give away’ bin. Everything that seemed to loom over me got tossed. I got rid over workbooks, texts, piles of worksheets. We now have a beautifully built shelf (that the kids and I built together last week) that is full of novels, literature, science experiment materials, arts and crafts and nature books. It has been one of the most freeing experiences of my entire homeschooling ‘career’!

My resolution is to cover more science — I know, not very glamorous as a goal. We’re also memorizing the book of Philippians by Easter. Still going!

My new year esolution for my homeschool is to get our physical environment in order. I want my kids to be able to access the materials we have. Our home is in chaos and all of the wonderful learning materials I’ve accumulated over the years are in piles and in boxes.

My resolution – to get outside more. More specifically in the woods and wilderness.
MY HS Res. was to SLOW down!!! We started early, Aug 1st, because I was due with #4 in Oct. So I had planned a baby break, the holidays, etc. We’ve just been cruising along!! My son will be 6 in March and we have started some 1st grade work and I don’t want to overwhelme him. My DD 2nd grade is doing just fine but for sanity sake I realized we need to slow down. Jan was much more relaxing and enjoyable!!
My resolution is to spend time at the end of the schoolwork time tidying up better, so we get a fresh start each morning.

I’m liking the Crafty Classroom. My resolution this year is to relax a little in homeschooling it hasn’t been fun at all lately, and to be on time to appointments. I have developed a bad habit of being late to things. This really isn’t good for my children to keep witnessing. What is late? Late to me is 15minutes after the appointed time. At a doctors office 15 minutes late and they frown at you, 10 minutes and you are still in good standings. Pray for me seriously, God’s really been dealing with me on this. Thanks for the give away.
Wow! I am so glad I read your post! I was beginning to think I was all alone because I to have decided *in the middle of the year* to change curriculum! What we were using was simply boring the kids to death and making me feel like a complete failure! I am already seeing positive results from our new way of schooling! yay! So, I guess you could say my new resolution for hs is to better serve and educate my kiddos! I want to get them excited about learning and I want to spark their interest and imagination like never before!! :)

My New Year’s resolution is to start earlier each day. Still a work in progress.
I made the commitment to not stress over every little thing being checked off the list for the day and we switched to workboxes…so far so good i guess! :)
My resolution is to be even more intentional about praying for guidance in what the Lord wants us to do in our homeschool each day. This is pretty much what I do, but I need to be even more consistent and determined to do it every day.
I want my children to be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, so I need to find out from Him what He wants them to learn and how He wants us to conduct our school time each day.

My resolution for the new year for our homeschooling is to get back to being more spontaneous. With the increased demand in our curriculum as my son has gotten older, I have focused really hard on trying to get that done instead of following our own bunny trails of interest which is what makes homeschooling fun:)
I liked you on Fb too:)

My homeschool resolution is to realize that I don’t have to teach in the same way as a traditional school teacher. As a thirteen year teaching verteran, I have struggled with breaking out of the “mold”. In 2011, I am going to work on new ways to make learning FUN!

My New Year’s HS resolution is to try not to stress about EVERYTHING. I had baby #s in Sept and ended up beginning the school year early (in July) so that we wouldn’t get too far “behind”. Last school year we were so behind with a very ambitious curriculum that my kids absolutely HATED. But I was determined to finish it (while deathly ill from the pregnancy). I finally realized that I had to call it quits for everyone’s sake. I threw out the curriculum and stopped the year cold. And what did I discover? IT WAS OKAY!!!! So this year I’ve been working on relaxing my perfectionist tendencies and letting learning happen. And it’s okay too! :-)
Our family resolves to learn together and make this year a transition year as we have a Kindergartner who missed the cut-off by 8 days to enroll in our local homeschool program’s Kindergarten. We are ok with that and have chosen our own curriculum to see how we do with structure in our homeschool life. Our goal is to keep on track and have fun learning as a family.
It’s reassuring to know that I am not the only one thinking about changing curriculum in the middle of the year. I actually did that last year and was very happy with the decision. So much of our school day is now spent doing Live Currclick classes and subject matter I have downloaded from Currclick. I have resolved to incorporate more hands on craft type lessons. I have discovered that my struggling learner learns best when he can create.
My resolution this year was to get more organized so I could ENJOY more time with my kids and less time constantly browsing and worrying if they are learning all the right stuff. So I added the Workbox system with some make-shift workboxes. :) It has worked out WONDERFULLY. My kids love them and my OCPD personality LOVES them.
And needless to say Micheals FINALLY has there workbox system organizers on sale for 50% off. Hubby is picking them up tomorrow. WOO HOO!
My hs resolution to is to help my 11yr old daughter who has special needs learn how to read. We have tried many programs but nothing is working so far, but I am hoping if we take it at a slower pace maybe things will click.
I am also trying more lapbooks and in the warmer weather more hands on type nature lessons
My home school resolution is to allow my daughters questions guide us into more learning and keep up with her curiosity and creativity.
My resolution is to relax… I mean, my kid is only in Kindergarten, he can’t learn everything all at once!

My homeschooling resolution for the 2011 year is to enjoy my children more. I have gotten so worried about where they are academically that I have become a “grouchy” mommy. I want to show the love of Jesus through my better attitude toward my children.

It is so reassuring to me to know that other homeschoolers have the same struggles that I do!! My homeschool resolutions are to start on time, do more subjects Charlotte Mason styled and be organized! I LOVE Currclick!! It has made resources so affordable for us!! Thank you!!!
I didn’t officially start make it a New Year’s resolution, but I added more responsibility to our schedule after our Winter Break. For example, we are doing “home ec” once a week. They have chosen a long-term project (e.g., sewing a pillow, planning a meal) and each week I teach them a new skill (e.g., how to do laundry, how to sew a button, etc.) So far so good!
We have been really struggling on making things more interesting for my middle son to learn. It is a HUGE struggle.

Resoultions?!!!!? What are those????!!!!???? Can you get ’em at Walmart??? LOL! Seriously, I just want to stay on task! I know that is supposed to be the “beauty” of homeschooling… you school around life NOT life around school… I still think there has to be some structure or “everything is lost”. We are there… LOST… I need to get us back on task and try to keep us there.
I can’t say that I have a New Year’s resolution, but rather an ongoing resolution. Last year I struggled finding what works for us. My husband and I run a family business 8 months out of the year which is full time and then the remaining time its classes and keeping up with all the laws and code changes etc. This is when schooling is more intense for us. I struggled with finding a schedule that I could work with both in schooling and working and one that worked for my husband. then it was what style of learning and teaching worked for us. We did away with all curriculum and rigid teaching and have fallen into a more relaxed hands on and Charlotte Mason approach. Things are flowing so much nicer. I just need to find what works for my “on-the-move, highly distract-able” daughter in math. We’ve gotten over many obstacles, and I know the Lord is faithful. He will continue to show us the way. We have used currclick and I continue to love the products and the prices.
I “Liked” Crafty Classroom on Facebook! LOVE IT
My goal this year is to “climb back up on the saddle” of homeschooling high school—now 2 kids! I am also working on writing some new curriculum and my oldest daughter (graduated from homeschooling) offered to help me!

Our resolution is to begin pre-k/kindergarten curriculum this year!
Following on FB!
My resolutions are to plan ahead and let my daughter have more say in what she wants to spend additional time studying.
To make it through our 1st year, and not give up! Then plan for year two.
My New Year’s Resolution was to go ahead and begin Kindergarten with my 4 1/2 year old daughter. We were spending a lot of time doing a lot of learning activities already, and she just kept begging for more. She initiates learning time on her own every day and begs for more when we’re finished after a couple of hours! I have bought activity sets from Currclick and we were doing lapbooks, but I went a step further and purchased a Kindergarten curriculum from My Father’s World about 2 weeks ago. I knew this Fall, my daughter would be too far ahead to start a Kindergarten curriculum, but I didn’t want her to “skip” Kindergarten and just start 1st grade this Fall because I didn’t want her to miss anyhthing in Math or otherwise. So we’re doing Kindergarten now, and she’s still begging to do “school” for hours everyday. We’re happy with it, and I love that she loves to learn. I just hope she’s always this excited about it!

My goal this year is to start to get my 4 and 2 year old interested in sitting down to learn. I have procrastinated long enough and now it is definitely time. Going ok so far but I am learning still how to multi-task with 3 kids. (Oh ya also have a 6 month old) Definitely takes patience but slowly they are getting on board. This would be wonderful things to be able to win!! Thanks!!
Resolution is to do some organized teaching every day so I can track my progress. And to increase my 2 year olds attention span.
I want to keep better records.
I liked you on Facebook.
The most important goal in our homeschool since day one (3 1/2 years ago) is Bible and character building. These two things take precedence over academics. Second to that is my daughter’s visual therapy which praise the Lord we finally found out why she had been struggling with schoolwork the past 3 years. Thanks for an opportunity to win the giveaway. God bless!
Our homeschool goal this year is to read at least one poem a week and draw a picture of what it means to us or write our own poem on the same topic or in the same style.
Our Homeschool New Year’s Resolution?
To get up a bit earlier so we can get school done earlier…
(Let’s just say we are STILL working out many of the details!)
P.S. I am following you on Facebook…

My homeschool goals this year are to be more diligent about planning school for my early preschooler and doing character training with all of my children. Thanks for this giveaway! :-)

My goal this year is to become more organized and plan out routine (we prefer routines over schedules in our house) for our homeschool. Also, starting a arts and music co op with a couple other families.
Thanks for being so open and honest about your homeschooling. My home school resolution for this year would be to find or “create” a new visual arts lesson. My kids are really into new media products and learning online, but I have not been able to find a ton of great sites or curriculum that I can integrate online. I would love to be able to start browsing more and more for new tools to use in the house.
Homeschool Resolution 2011 – To spend more quality time with each kid individually instead of just pushing through the work each day.
and P.S. Yes, I’ve done the switch in the middle of the year. When it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work!

i’ve been gleaning wisdom from unschooling ‘rules’. stop saying NO so much to your children, instead, look for reasons to say ‘why not?!’ so far, it’s been amazing!!
My homeschool resolution is to get out of the house more! Somewhere along the way we’ve ccut back way too far on outings. The kids really miss our bi-monthy feild trips.

I don’t usually make resolutions, but I do want to become more organized with all the papers that comes with schooling 3 children at home. I also “liked” you on facebook.
Well really do not have a home school go except getting to the next grade level. My son has some behavioral problms and getting him to do school work is like pulling teeth. The file folder games he really has enjoyed and this is one thing I have found that keeps him engaged. My 10 year old enjoys doing them too. Most importantly is that it is Bible based which is sadly lacking in todays teaching. Thanks for all you do. God bless.
Actually this year, I’ve decided to not make a “resolution” it just stresses me and the children to try to keep “my unattainable resolutions” LOL. We are just going to have fun doing school in many creative ways (Lord willing it).
I’m still keeping schedules and such nut I just want to enjoy my children and not be stressed about a time line.
*but* … not “nut” LOL!

My 2011 homeschool resolution is to be more consistent! It is imperative that I do so. It will be tough but I know it can be done.
I have a couple of resolutions for this homeschool year~
To get my twins to want to learn reading, we are slowly getting there! They are plenty smart enough, just haven’t had the desire to do so… frustrating for me, since I love reading as does their big sis… And then for us to be more creative and actually get our crafty projects done!

Oh, and just in general here… Thanks for putting up this site and sharing your crafty creativity! I found it a couple of days ago and haven’t had a chance to fully appreciate it yet, but I am working on it! :)
My homeschool resolution is to stick with what is working for our family as opposed to following every whim that grabs my attention or plays on my “Mommy Guilt”.
One of my resolutions for 2011 is not to rush when I don’t have to! I have 4 & always somehow think that if I rush things I can get it all done;)…right, but the work is daily…it’s never done..I want to be in the moment & have fun w/my kids!;-)

I am not a homeschooler, but I teach in a Montessori preprimary school. I use the lapbook website to get ideas to incorporate into my curriculum to make the Montessori learning process even more enjoyable and to allow the children to experience a more tactile learning experience.
God bless you and thank you so much for sharing such great ideas and keep up the great work!
My resolution is to spend more time with my 9th grader and go with the flow with my 1st grader! Home school with a meek and quiet spirit!
